Elementary Early Release Thursday

Our MPSD Elementary Educators hit the ground running last Thursday during their first early release "in service" day.  Teachers from all five elementary schools took time to review the findings from last spring's SEL Survey.  In addition, they were able to unpack the math curriculum maps. 

There was a lot of excitement and energy as the teachers got to collaborate with their peers.  It was a terrific afternoon.

Week 1- Educator of the Week

We kick off our 2019-20 Educator of the Week award with a visit to Eames Way School where we honor Ms. Linda Hurstak. A fantastic teacher who also oversees our teacher mentoring program. Congrats Ms. Hurstak!!

EWS Playground Ribbon Cutting Ceremony- September 13th

The Eames Way School is excited to open their new playground this week.  Thanks to the hard work of their PTO and many generous individuals, the state of the art playground is ready to go.  

The school will have a brief ceremony at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 13th.

Wall of Honor Ceremony- October 10, 2019

Earlier this summer, the Marshfield Superintendent of Schools announced that three individuals were selected to the district’s second class of the recently created, Wall of Honor.  The three chosen for this honor were Ms. Maureen Jordan-Salvetti, Ms. Linda Francis and Ms. Linda Stranzl.

On Thursday, October 10th, from 6:00 - 8:30 PM the District will honor this year's inductees at a ceremony to be held at Haddad's Ocen Cafe.  Here's a link from which you can purchase tickets for the event:

All three inductees were long-time educators in the district, who had over 100 combined years of teaching the children of Marshfield.  In addition, they spent time coaching and advising many of them and served selflessly in a variety of volunteer roles to the benefit of the students and the Town of Marshfield.

Ms. Jordan-Salvetti started off in the district as a hard working Title I Tutor in the early 1970’s.  She worked in that role and as a long term substitute for 23 years. She eventually worked her way into a fulltime classroom teacher at the elementary level, where she influenced the youth of the Governor Winslow School for 20 years.    In the summers she spent her time tutoring students and now, even in retirement, after 43 years of shaping the minds of generations of MPSD students, she continues to work with students at the Boys & Girls Club’s learning center.  As noted by her son, Chris Jordan, “If you had Maureen Jordan as a teacher, you would remember her fondly.”

Ms. Francis was a dedicated English Teacher at the Marshfield High School (MHS).  For 32 years, she worked with MHS students, helping them perfect the art of writing. Beyond her work in the classroom, Ms. Francis was well known for her being an amazing Student Council advisor.  She impacted thousands of students in this role and was even recognized for her efforts at the state and national level.  To this day, she still is involved with Student Council.  Her work with students was highlighted by Kayla Joyal who said, “Ms. Francis’ servant leader enthusiasm and passion influences and encourages her peers and her students to strive for excellence because she is always willing to reach out and help others.”

Ms. Stranzl was a beloved math teacher for 41 years at MHS.  In that time, she was a talented math practitioner for 32 years.  She spent her final nine years working as the Math Department Chair. She not only was a friendly face in the classroom, she also served as a mentor to a legion of young math teachers at MHS.  Outside of the classroom, Ms. Stranzl was a fixture at all school events and even played a role in the school’s production of “Foot Loose” in the late 2000s.  To this day, she still volunteers her time to help proctor SATs and even pops into the math lab at times to help out students.  Fellow math teacher, Lynn DeRosa put it best when she said, “Linda was a boss, a colleague, a friend and most importantly, a role model.
